This episode is filled with some great advice from Air Force member (Investor/Blogger/etc.) Rich Carey, who will retire financially independent in 2020 after turning from Wall Street to service for his country. Rich shocked me when he said, "military members should NEVER buy a house at their duty station" (with one caveat). Does he really think owning a home free and clear is the best way to go? Doug and his wife have been financially independent (and retired "early") since before "FIRE" was a cool movement! Yes, he's a real estate investor, but that's not his source of retirement income.
